Different anchor designs use different methods to penetrate the seabed.

Some designs depend more on weight (for example, plow and wing anchors), while others depend more on their shape.  When comparing different designs to each other, the weights will not compare exactly. 

The Rocna and Manson Supreme anchors are examples are excellent recent designs that depend more on their shape and are therefore lighter for a given size of boat.
